I’m sure by now if you have an iPhone, you’ve applied for your case by now, I applied for mine right after I got it from freebiejeebies, but what happens to the people who get their iPhone 4 after the cut off date?
It’s nothing new that Apple’s free case scheme will be ending soon but what do they intend to do about the problem come October when they’re no longer giving away cases. Speculation had always been that Apple would be selling to customers under the understanding that they know about any reception issues before purchase.
Recently a new rumour has emerged, an executive at a Mexican network provider has claimed that Apple will in fact be releasing a new, revised version of the iPhone 4 which will be released around the same time that the free case scheme will end. This may mean that Apple will be using a different material for the antenna or will be coating it in a protective agent to stop interference.
